City Of Tucson Zoning Examiner Zoning Examiner Meeting
The meeting addressed a special exception request for the development of a large retail establishment, specifically a new Costco store at 9680 East Old Vail Road. Discussions covered the project's adherence to land use policies, the traffic impact analysis ensuring acceptable service levels through 2032, and the site's architectural design features, including landscaping, shade studies, and rainwater harvesting. The examiner also addressed public concerns regarding potential traffic generation, diesel lanes, and traffic spillover into residential neighborhoods.
The subcommittee recommended approval of the historic landmark designation for the Celestine Barbie 2 House, citing its architectural significance, high integrity, and status as the work of master architect Bruce Goff.
