Additionally, administration presented a comparative analysis of council remuneration and per diem practices across eighteen municipalities, prompting a discussion among council members regarding compensation structure and wage adjustments.
The council meeting began with a land acknowledgement and community recognition for recent events, including a car show and balloon launches. Discussions included a presentation by the Rowan House Society regarding primary prevention initiatives for domestic violence, emphasizing the importance of community partnerships and healthy relationship education. Additionally, a request regarding the National Red Dress Day was presented, proposing the display of 150 red dresses at George Lane Park to raise awareness for missing and murdered Indigenous women, girls, and two-spirit individuals. The council also facilitated a public comment segment.
The hearing addressed a preliminary matter concerning an assessment complaint for a retail property.
