School District of Bayfield Farm to School Action Plan 2026-2030
This Farm to School Action Plan for the School District of Bayfield outlines a comprehensive strategy to integrate food literacy, nutrition, ecology, and sustainability into the school environment. The plan's mission is to empower students through food literacy, revitalize food traditions, and foster land stewardship, envisioning a community-informed program that cultivates food knowledge and traditional ecological practices. Key areas of focus include culturally responsive curriculum development, local food procurement (from-scratch, traditional, and local foods), community engagement, and strengthening program infrastructure. The plan aims to expand access to Farm to School experiences for all K-12 students, ensure thriving school gardens, improve food security, and integrate its principles district-wide, with a vision to become a model for replication by other school districts.
