State Of Iowa Department Of Management Strategic Planning Guidebook
This strategic planning guidebook for the State of Iowa Department of Management outlines a process for departments to develop and annually review strategic plans, aligning goals with customer needs and the governor's priorities. The process involves defining a mission and vision statement, conducting a needs assessment (potentially using SWOT analysis), identifying strategic initiatives with operational goals and key performance indicators (KPIs), and allocating resources effectively. The guide emphasizes the importance of aligning plans with the governor's priorities (e.g., elevating education, workforce development, tax cuts, health and well-being, government accountability, and farmland protection) and using data-driven KPIs to track progress and ensure accountability. The guide also provides templates and examples to assist in the planning process.
